Does HDMI port replacement fix no signal on PS5/Xbox?
If the HDMI port is physically damaged (broken pins, lifted pad, loose connector), replacement usually solves the problem. If there is still no picture, the HDMI retimer chip may be faulty – we diagnose and replace it as well.
What is an HDMI retimer?
It is a chip responsible for signal integrity and re-driving the HDMI signal. After surges, lightning strikes or short circuits, it can fail and cause no image even with a new HDMI port.
How do I know if the HDMI retimer is faulty?
Typical symptom: after replacing the HDMI port you still see no image, “no signal” or artifacts. We check HDMI lines and the retimer on the oscilloscope and replace the chip if necessary.
